Part 2: Kiana’s Trap and the Failed Theft
The next morning, Kiana went to the bank and quietly changed the PIN on her main account, which held over $120,000. She left the old PIN connected to a spare card that contained only three dollars. She also asked the bank to place additional security alerts on the account in case anyone attempted a large withdrawal.
Back at home, she acted as though nothing had happened. Darius continued pretending to be caring while secretly preparing to carry out the plan with his mother. Kiana waited patiently, knowing they would eventually make their move.
Late one night, Kiana pretended to be asleep while Darius slipped out of bed and called Patricia. He gave her the old PIN number and instructed her to withdraw all the money from Kiana’s account. Confident that the plan would work, Patricia headed to an ATM.
Instead, everything went wrong. Because the card was connected to the security alert system, the transaction immediately raised suspicions. The withdrawal was blocked, and Patricia was questioned by bank security about why she was attempting to access money that did not belong to her.
About forty minutes later, Darius received a message from his mother saying, “Son, she knew everything. Something is happening to me…” At that moment, he realized Kiana had anticipated the entire scheme.
